For more than two decades, we have combined MEMS engineering, advanced holder design, machine vision, and data management technologies to help researchers perform experiments with greater austerity, reproducibility, and productivity.

Designed by us: With our own in-house mechanical, electrical, and MEMS engineers, all our designs are born and raised at Protochips. Feedback from the research community outlines the problems to be solved, and our experts tackle them head on.

 

Built in-house: Manufacturing our products in-house allows us to maintain the high standards of quality and precision our customers expect. All hardware is built by our talented technicians at our factory, located at our headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. Our consumable MEMS devices are fabricated by our team at the Nanofabrication Facility (NNF) at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, where every step of the process is carefully monitored to ensure consistent quality and performance.

Our engineers evaluate performance, reliability, and consistency under real-world experimental conditions to ensure each component meets the standards researchers depend on. Patented Holder Technologies

The closed-cell holder design was one of the innovations that brought in situ techniques to numerous areas of research, enabling high resolution sample imaging in liquid and gaseous environments which was previously impossible. Using two self-aligning E-chips to safely encapsulate samples, this holder design transforms any TEM or STEM into a nanoscale in situ laboratory.
