Our service engineer, Ben Addis, traveled to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville to visit Professor Khalid Hattar’s group at the Department of Nuclear Engineering. Pictured here with Postdoc, Dr. Elijah Davis, Ben installed a Poseidon electrochemistry holder with a standard reference electrode onto their JEOL 2100 microscope and demonstrated Au- dendrite formation around the Pt working electrode as seen in the image.
Their research goals hope to elucidate the response of microstructures to overlapping extreme conditions and also to utilize film growth and ion beam modification techniques to produce nanostructured systems with tailored thermal, electrical, and mechanical properties.
