What you’ll do:

The Product Specialist will be responsible for becoming an expert In the company’s products, as well as the users and markets for the products, and using this knowledge to support sales, marketing, and product development. The Product Specialist will be a central position, interacting with people in every organization of the company to help support Product Management.

To be successful as a product specialist, you must have a passion for the products you work with and keep expanding product knowledge. Outstanding product specialists should have a keen eye for spotting market trends, a willingness to inspire customers, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.

  • Be the first point of contact for the sales, applications, and service team regarding questions all product lines and respond to all queries in a prompt manner

  • Support sales team in product presentations and technical discussions at customer sites

  • Assist with product trainings for sales, distributors, applications, and service teams

  • Support the Marketing team by assisting in generation marketing content

  • Keep up-to-date on publications in the field

  • Ensure user manuals and marketing collateral are kept up-to-date with new material as needed

  • Plan and assist with new product releases and events, including driving beta testing programs and generating marketing content related to a release

  • Collaborate and strategize with the business and engineering teams

  • Assist with product lifecycle management, including creation and obsolescence of parts, monitoring of margins, and development of different promotions

  • Make helpful product recommendations and suggestions to increase revenue

  • Up to 30% travel on average annually, including international travel to Europe, China, Japan, Korea, Australia, and N. America

  • Reports to the Product Line Manager for in situ products and is a world-wide support position.

What you’ll need:

  • Self-motivated, open-minded, have a desire to learn new concepts, and learn about new cultures
  • Very strong presentation, communications, and interpersonal skills
  • Can convey technical information clearly and succinctly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Must have a hands-on attitude, and a desire and proficiency to work with highly technical equipment
  • Deadline-driven, and willing to work after hours due to communicating with various time zones.
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken
  • Fluent in additional languages is a plus, particularly Mandarin or Japanese

Position Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, biology or other scientific discipline; MS preferred.

  • Customer service, sales, or retail experience highly preferred

  • Experience in a research lab setting – academic or industry – highly preferred

  • Experience with transmission electron microscopy (TEM) highly preferred

  • Have experience or knowledge of product development and lifecycle highly preferred

  • >2 years of experience working at a scientific instrumentation company highly preferred

  • Experience with Salesforce a plus
