In situ transmission electron microscopy as a toolbox for the emerging science of nanometallurgy

Fusion AX Publication Alert in Lab on a Chip on Materials Science using Metallurgy

Have you ever thought on looking at sublimation reactions on the nanoscale, in real time? These authors from the university of Leoben looked at nanoalloying Al–Cu nanoparticles in situ within a transmission electron microscope using the #FusionAX system. The results showed that Au nanoparticles and Cu nanowires can undergo melting and alloying on an Al substrate. This showed clearly that in situ TEM can be used to observe nanoalloying reactions for the emerging science of nanometallurgy.
